- Who is eligible to purchase a docking permit for Cedar & Gilgo Marinas?
-
Boat Docking/Launching Permits are issued only to adults (18 years or older) whose primary residence is within the Town of Babylon. Owners of rental or commercial properties who are domiciled outside of the Town of Babylon are not considered Town residents. Proof of residency is required when purchasing a docking permit and creating a household account to make reservations at Cedar.
- When are the marinas open?
-
The boating season commences annually on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend for weekends and holidays only through June 19th, and 7 days a week from June 19th through the Monday of Labor Day in September. The boating season at Gilgo ends on the Monday of Labor Day in September. The boating season at Cedar ends on the Monday of Columbus Day in October.
- Are reservations available at both marinas?
-
Three (3) night (Friday at 11AM-Monday at 11AM) reservations are only available at Cedar Beach Marina. Gilgo Beach Marina operates on a first come, first served basis and does not accept reservations.
- How do I reserve a boat slip at Cedar online?
-
Go to townofbabylonny.gov/parks and click on the Cedar Marina Docking tab. Select the “Begin Date” as the Friday you wish to start your reservation. If you chose any other day, the system will show all sites as reserved. Select the boat slip you wish to reserve, add it to your cart and begin the checkout process for payment.
Please note that you must have a Household Account set up with the Parks Department in order to make online reservations. We encourage all new Household Accounts to be setup prior to reservation opening dates as new households are marked as “Pending” until our staff can review your uploaded documents and verify your residency.
- Why do all slips at Cedar Marina appear reserved when I search?
-
This usually happens if you don’t select a Friday as your “Begin Date.” Reservations only run from Friday to Sunday. Make sure your date is set correctly. If your date is set correctly and all sites are unavailable, that means all sites are currently reserved for that week, or the reservation period has not opened yet.
- When do online reservations close for the upcoming weekend?
-
Online reservations close at 2:00PM on the Wednesday before your desired Friday check-in. After this time, any available sites will only be offered in person on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 12:00PM Friday at the Cedar Dockmaster Booth. First come, first served stays cannot result in three consecutive weekend stays at the marina. Please see Rules & Regulations for more information.
- How long are reservations?
-
Reservations at Cedar Marina are for three (3) nights stays, Friday – Monday, including holiday weekends, and limited to the maximum stay of 13 days per visit. However, any boat using a berth for ANY portion of a weekend (Friday at 11AM – Monday at 11AM) is ineligible to use a berth for the following weekend.
- How do I cancel or change a reservation?
-
Any change or cancellation (date or slip) must be made by calling the Parks Department at (631) 893-2100. Only the account holder (or another adult in the household) may request changes to a reservation. A $40 fee per transaction applies, and all changes must be made by 2:00PM on the Wednesday prior to your reservation. No refunds or credits will be issued after that deadline.
- What if I can’t arrive on Friday for my reservation?
-
If you will not be able to check in on Friday, you must call the Cedar Dockmaster by 12:00PM on Saturday to keep your reservation. If you have not arrived and occupied your slip by 3:00PM on Saturday, your slip will be forfeited without refund and made available to other boaters with a valid permit.
- What are the daily dock usage fees for boaters without reservations?
-
Daily dock usage fees apply to all non-reserved boats and all jet skis at Cedar, and all boat/jet skis at Gilgo utilizing the main dock or floating docks at both marinas. Fees vary depending on the size of the vessel and the type of dock space being used, and will be calculated by the Dockmaster.
All daily dock fees must be paid directly to the Dockmaster at the time of arrival or prior to departure from the dock.
Any unpaid dock fees will be charged to the permit holder’s account based on the permit affixed to the docked vessel. Outstanding balances remaining at the end of the season may result in late fees and the inactivation of the permit holder’s account for the following season until all unpaid fees have been reconciled.
- Are generators permitted at the marinas?
-
Gasoline and diesel-powered generators are not permitted at Cedar or Gilgo marinas. Only solar-powered generators may be used, and they must remain on the vessel at all times.
