- Where is Cedar Beach Campground located?
-
Cedar Beach Campground is located on the bay side of Cedar Beach. It is accessible from the beach by walking through the pathway and underpass which goes from the ocean side of Ocean Parkway to the bay side. The marina has 63 slips for boats and 41 campsites for self-contained camp vehicles. Reservations for boat slips and campsites are made through the Parks Registration Website.
- Who is eligible to purchase a camping permit for Cedar Campground?
-
Camping Permits are issued only to adults (18 years or older) whose primary residence is within the Town of Babylon. Owners of rental or commercial properties who are domiciled outside of the Town of Babylon are not considered Town residents. Proof of residency is required when purchasing a camping permit and creating a household account to make reservations.
- What types of camping are allowed?
-
Only self-contained camping vehicles (RVs, campers, trailers with onboard restroom facilities) are permitted. Tent camping is not allowed.
- When is the campground open?
-
The camping season commences annually on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and ends on the Monday of Columbus Day in October. After Columbus Day, the campground is closed until the next season.
- How do I reserve a campsite online?
-
Go to townofbabylonny.gov/parks and click on the Campground Reservations tab. Select the “Begin Date” as the Friday you wish to start your reservation. If you chose any other day, the system will show all sites as reserved. Select the campsite you wish to reserve, add it to your cart and begin the checkout process for payment.
Please note that you must have a Household Account set up with the Parks Department in order to make online reservations. We encourage all new Household Accounts to be setup prior to reservation opening dates as new households are marked as “Pending” until our staff can review your uploaded documents and verify your residency.
- Why do all sites appear reserved when I search?
-
This usually happens if you don’t select a Friday as your “Begin Date.” Reservations only run from Friday to Friday. Make sure your date is set correctly. If your date is set correctly and all sites are unavailable, that means all sites are currently reserved for that week, or the reservation period has not opened yet.
- When do online reservations close for the upcoming weekend?
-
Online reservations close at 2:00PM on the Wednesday before your desired Friday check-in. After this time, any available sites will only be offered in person on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 12:00PM Friday at the Campground Office. First come, first served stays cannot result in three consecutive weekend stays at the campground during the summer season. Please see rules & regulations for more information.
- How long are reservations?
-
Reservations are for 7 nights only (Friday 12:00PM – Friday 10:00AM). There is a strict maximum stay of 7 days and there are no back-to-back reservations during the summer season.
- How do I cancel or change a reservation?
-
Any change or cancellation (date or site) must be made by calling the Parks Department at (631) 893-2100. Only the account holder (or another adult in the household) may request changes to a reservation. A $40 fee per transaction applies, and all changes must be made by 2:00PM on the Wednesday prior to your reservation. No refunds or credits will be issued after that deadline.
- What if I can’t arrive on Friday for my reservation?
-
If you will not be able to check in on Friday, you must call the campground by 12:00PM on Saturday to keep your reservation. If you have not arrived and occupied your site by 3:00PM on Saturday, your site will be forfeited without refund and made available to other campers with a valid permit.
- Can guests visit the campground?
-
Yes. Guests may visit between 8:00AM and 8:00PM. A valid Town of Babylon Beach Permit on their vehicle will be needed to park at Cedar Marina & Campground. All visitors must leave by 9:00PM. The camping permit holder is responsible for the conduct of all guests.
- Are there rules about quiet hours and pets?
-
Quiet hours run daily from 11:00PM – 8:00AM, no generators, radios or loud noise is permissible during quiet hours.
Only family dogs are permitted at Cedar Campground. Dogs must be licenses through the Town Clerk’s Office, kept on a leash (max 6 feet), never left unattended, and are not allowed at Cedar or Overlook Beaches. Owners are required to clean up after their dogs on the premises.
