Public Safety - Department
The Department of Parks & Recreation's Public Safety Division is located at the Town Hall Annex at 281 Phelps Lane, North Babylon. Public Safety consists of:
- Public Safety Officers: Responsible for the security of Town property and facilities. All Public Safety Officers have New York State Guard Licenses. They enforce parking regulations and issue parking summonses and control traffic and security for all Town facilities.
- Marine Patrol: The Harbor Master and Bay Constables patrol the Great South Bay and Town beaches and facilities. They are responsible for enforcing all Town codes and NY State and Federal Navigation Law, and New York State Environmental Conservation Law. They are New York State Peace Officers and have the power to issue summonses and make arrests.
- Park Rangers: Park Rangers protect park resources and the residents who patronize them. They enforce all local and state laws and ordinances pertaining to Town parks and facilities. They are NY State Peace Officers and can issue summonses and make arrests.
- Fire Marshals: Fire Marshals enforce all Town and New York State codes and laws. They are New York State Peace Officers and have the power to issue summonses and make arrests. They also respond to fire investigations and hazmat accidents.

No, unregistered vehicles with, or without, license plates, cannot be parked on the street. If there is a vehicle in violation, Public Safety will send an officer to the location and, if in violation of Town Code, will tow the vehicle and the owner will be issued a summons. The owner is responsible for all related towing and impound fees.

No, trailers are not permitted to park on the street. If a trailer is parked illegally, Public Safety will tow the trailer and the owner will be issued a summons. The owner is responsible for all related towing and impound fees.

Concerns about vehicles obstructing the public right-of-way, should be directed to Citizen Services at (631) 957-TOWN (8696). A Public Safety officer will be sent to the location and, if found in violation of Town Code, will tow the vehicle and issue a summons to the owner.Public Safety - Department

No, it is against Town Code to park any vehicle on the street that is not registered and does not have license plates. If a vehicle is parked on the street and is in violation of Town Code, it will be towed and the owner will be issued a summons.Public Safety - Department
