[ARCHIVED] Babylon Town Lowers Dog License Fees and Promotes Summer Safety

Dog Press Conference

Lindenhurst, NY – The Town of Babylon is pleased to announce a new initiative aimed at promoting dog safety and responsible pet ownership this summer. In a press conference held earlier this week, the Town Clerk revealed a temporary reduction in dog license fees and shared essential summer safety tips for dog owners.

Babylon Town Clerk Gerry Compitello, who spearheaded the initiative, stated, "We are committed to the well-being of our community's pets. By lowering the licensing fees, we hope to encourage more owners to license their dogs, ensuring they are protected and can be reunited quickly if lost.”

At a special town board meeting, the Babylon Town Board passed a resolution to lower dog license fees for the summer, effective from July 1 to September 30. During this period, license fees will range from $1 to $18, offering residents significant savings of up to $27. The initiative aims to make it easier for dog owners to comply with licensing laws and quickly locate lost pets.

Dr. Jason Kirshbaum from the Babylon Animal Hospital provided additional summer safety tips for dog owners, stressing the importance of hydration, avoiding hot surfaces, and regular vet check-ups to keep pets healthy during the warmer months.

The Town of Babylon encourages all dog owners to take advantage of this limited-time offer and prioritize their pets' health and safety this summer. One-year and three-year dog licenses are available for purchase online, making the process convenient and accessible for all residents.
